Welcome to LIVE coverage of the 2018 World Cup qualifier between Ghana and Uganda from Tamale Stadium.

This opening Group E clash sees the Black Stars looking to get off to a fast start on the ‘Road to Russia’ against a confident Cranes team which last month secured a return to the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in almost four decades.

All times CAT, press F5 to refresh

45+2′ – Half time – It’s goalless at the break. Uganda looked the better team for the first half hour, but Ghana came on strong after the water break and created a chance for Ayew which should have been put away.

45+1′ – Powerful run from Atsu as he cuts inside from the right, but his left-footed shot flashes wide!

45′ – There will be two minutes of added time.

44′ – Great sliding tackle from Isinde to stop Acheampong having a free shot at goal, but Uganda are having to work harder and harder at the back.

42′ – Just a few minutes to the break, if Uganda can go into half time with the score line still blank they will certainly be the happier of the two teams. Gyan with a snap-shot from the edge of the box, it flies wide of the target.

39′ – Onyango makes a good punch clear from a dangerous cross. Ghana look like they are determined to find a goal before half time.

36′ – Yellow card: Uganda’s Juuko is booked for a dangerously high foot which fortunately didn’t catch Ayew in the head!

34′ – Gyan beats Onyango in an aerial contest to meet another cross from the right, but the veteran striker committed a foul in the process. The Black Stars are just beginning to turn up the heat…

33′ – Ghana create the best chance of the game, with Afful chipping a good cross from the right to the back post, but Ayew fires wide… that should have been 1-0 to Ghana.

31′ – Past the half hour mark, still goalless in Tamale. The players are enjoying a quick water break.

28′ – Farouk Miya cuts inside to shoot from long range with his right foot… well struck but it flies well wide of the target.

24′ – So far so good for Uganda, they’ve looked pretty comfortable in defence and the more penetrative team in attack.

23′ – Yellow card: Uganda right-back Wadada is cautioned for a late lunge on Acheampong.

19′ – Tony Mawejje whips in a cross from the left wing, but he’s flagged offside. Both teams are slowing down their play to adapt to the hot conditions.

15′ – A quarter hour played, Ghana are just beginning to take control of the midfield and find a rhythm in the game after Uganda’s strong start.

12′ – Uganda have a couple of corner kicks in quick succession, the second of which sees Braimah making a good interception from a header back into the danger area by Iguma.

10′ – Uganda ‘keeper Onyango claims a good aerial catch from Ayew’s free kick delivery into the box.

6′ – Great burst down the right from Wadada, who fires in a low cross from the by-line which is well held by Ghana goalkeeper Braimah.

5′ – It’s a pretty dry, patchy pitch – not one which is conducive to good football.

2′ – The first shot in anger comes from Uganda, with Iguma letting fly from long range, but it deflects off one of his teammate and goes away for a goal kick to Ghana.

1′ – Kick-off – We are underway in Tamale!  Ghana wear white and black, while Uganda are kitted out in red and black.

17h20 – Ten minutes to kick-off, we can report that it’s a hot, sunny late afternoon in Tamale and unfortunately it’s not the biggest crowd that has turned out to support the Black Stars, with plenty of empty seats in the stadium.

17h00 – Half an hour to kick-off, here are the starting line-ups:

Ghana: Razak Braimah, Harrison Afful, Baba Rahman, John Boye, Daniel Amartey, Afriyie Acquah, Mubarak Wakaso, Christian Atsu, Frank Acheampong, Jordan Ayew, Asamoah Gyan

Uganda: Denis Onyango, Joseph Ochaya, Isaac Isinde, Murushid Juuko, Nicolas Wadada, Farouk Miya, Khalid Aucho, Tony Mawejje, Dennis Iguma, Moses Oloya, Kizito Luwagga
