Everton winger Yannick Bolasie is nearing a return to action, 11 months after sustaining a cruciate ligament knee injury against Manchester United.

The Democratic Republic of Congo international’s return is not yet confirmed, but he is hoping that when he takes to the field once again he will be able to help the Toffees climb the log standings.

Everton currently occupy a relegation spot on the English Premier League table and were unceremoniously dumped out of the Europa League on Thursday evening following a 3-0 defeat away to Lyon.

The Merseyside outfit also currently find themselves without a head coach following the sacking of Ronald Koeman and in dire straights as they prepare to welcome Watford.

Bolasie, 28, is hoping to turn all that around once he makes a return to action at Goodison Park.

“I tend to distance myself [when I’m injured] but now that I am getting there, I am starting to watch and go to games again and I feel like I am close, and that is the main thing,” he told his club’s website.

“It’s been almost a year but I don’t think of it like that because in that year I have been given the chance to develop myself and develop things I would have taken for granted before.

“That has taken up my time and the whole package has come together, so I’m buzzing, really, and happy with where I am at.

“I want to come back feeling refreshed and hungry.

He continued: “With everything that is going on, hopefully, I can come in and give a boost to the team and I am confident that they will be confident when I come in.

“If the team is confident, then that helps you even more, and that makes it better for me to come back and slot in that little bit easier,” Bolasie conclud
