Barcelona-bound Liverpool midfielder, Philippe Coutinho was not part of the Liverpool squad that just traveled to Dubai for some warm-weather training.

He was also absent in the FA Cup Merseyside derby on Friday night as a result of a thigh problem according to reports from Liverpool Echo.

The Brazilian was desperate to move to Nou Camp last summer as he refused to play claiming to have a mysterious injury. With the resumption of transfer activities on Monday, January 1, it is likely that the midfielder has played his last game for the Reds as they are considering that it might be in the club’s interest to listen to offers for the player this January.

According to reports, Barcelona are preparing about £140million to price Coutinho away from Liverpool and the Nou Camp club are quite assured that he will finally become a Barcelona player this January.

It is rumored in Spain that an announcement could even come this weekend.

The Red’s preference would be to agree on a deal now which would be completed in the summer, but Coutinho, just like his resolve last summer is still sticking with his desire to leave the club immediately. There are reports from other corners that Liverpool offered a substantial short-term wage raise to their talisman in a bid to have him with them until the end of the season.

Despite the situation around Coutinho’s circumstances, the Reds have not given up hope of holding on to him, and as it stands there has been no formal offer from Barcelona for them to consider although this might not last longer than today.

Liverpool next game will be in eight days’ time in a cracker with Pep Guardiola’s high-flying Manchester City and as a result of the few days break, Klopp has allowed his squad to travel to Dubai to enjoy some warm-weather in their preparation towards their next game, However, Coutinho is predictably absent from the squad.
